Heaters
The heater is a very important part of the Heating, Ventilation and Airconditioning (HVAC) system which warms up the interior of the vehicle. It is connected to the engine cooling system and mostly located behind/underneath the dashboard. It receives the heat energy from the hot coolant circulating in the small circuit (not in the thermostat circuit) engine cooling system. In fact the function is the same as the radiator, but here the engines waste energy is used to warm up the interior and create a comfortable climate.
In the AC-mode “ON” the heater is necessary to heat up the cold air and to achieve the chosen temperature. So there is always a combined function of heating and airconditioning! The interior electric blower produces an air flow through the heater and this heated air is released to the passenger cabin.
For extra heating performance, the tube & fin heaters are equipped with spiral turbulators inside the core tubes, which slow down the coolant speed for more heat exchange. To ensure a quick and proper installation, NRF heaters fit smoothly into the HVAC-unit. If necessary, our heaters are equipped with additional connection tubes and extra foam rubber. Our range of heaters covers the most popular models of European and Japanese cars, light commercial vehicles and trucks. NRF also offers various versions, e.g. for RHD cars and all aluminium cores.
Tip: When engine overheating occurs, use the heater as an additional radiator! Set the heating system on maximum (HOT) and the blower on highest airspeed. Open all the windows and switch off the airconditioning.
