For almost 100 years, NRF has been a leading manufacturer and supplier of thermal management products and solutions for the automotive aftermarket, as well as the marine, railway, and industrial sectors. Originally recognised for its expertise in radiator manufacturing, NRF has evolved into a global supplier offering a comprehensive portfolio of more than 18,000 products.

The founding of NRF

Founded in Amsterdam in 1927 by R. Bloksma Sr., Nederlandse Radiateuren Fabriek (Netherlands Radiator Factory, NRF) originally specialised in radiator repairs. During the 1930s, the company expanded its capabilities by establishing its own production department, marking the beginning of NRF’s manufacturing heritage.

Expansion and moving

In 1954, NRF opened a second production site in Mill, the Netherlands, focused on radiator production for export markets. That same year, Nederlandse Spoorwegen commissioned NRF to develop its first high-capacity radiator for the Blue Angel train. NRF also introduced the box cooler, an in-house invention that remains widely used in the marine sector today.

In 1962, the Amsterdam site closed and Mill became NRF’s headquarters. Soon after, DAF placed an order for 18,000 radiators for the DAF 55. During this period, NRF also became the OEM radiator producer for the Volvo 300 and 400 series.

Becoming an international player

The 1980s marked the beginning of NRF’s international expansion, with the opening of its first overseas location in Valenciennes, France. This was followed by the establishment of additional sites across Europe. In 1989, NRF joined Modine Manufacturing Company and became the European headquarters for Modine’s aftermarket business. In 1998, NRF expanded its manufacturing expertise by starting the production of aluminium heat exchangers.

NRF becomes part of Banco Products India Ltd

In 2010, NRF became a full subsidiary of Banco Products (I) Ltd. Having supplied NRF B.V. for more than 15 years, Banco already had a strong understanding of the company’s markets, products, and management. The acquisition strengthened NRF’s global position, expanding its access to new factories, warehouses, and international growth opportunities.

New warehouse in Valenciennes, France

In 2018, NRF expanded its French operations with the opening of a new 3,700 m² warehouse in Valenciennes. The facility acts as the central warehouse for customers in France and parts of Belgium, enhancing regional distribution and product availability.

New warehouse in Valencia, Spain

In 2020, NRF opened a new state-of-the-art warehouse in Valencia, centralising its Iberian operations by consolidating three existing facilities into a single distribution hub. The warehouse not only supports customers across Spain and Portugal but also serves as an important logistics centre for NRF’s international business, supplying customers worldwide.

New aluminium production facility in Gdańsk, Poland

In 2021, NRF relocated its aluminium production facility from the Netherlands to Poland. At this factory, NRF produces a wide range of custom-made oil, water, and air coolers for the automotive aftermarket and OE customers. The facility also manufactures cooling parts and solutions for the railway industry, agricultural applications, off-highway machinery, and generator sets.

New warehouse (EDC) in Gdańsk, Poland

In 2022, NRF continued its global growth with the opening of a new 30,000 m² warehouse in Gdańsk, Poland. The facility became NRF’s European distribution centre, supporting the company’s worldwide customer base with increased stock capacity and improved product availability. It is one of Europe’s largest warehouses dedicated to engine cooling and climate control parts.

Becoming a sensor specialist

To strengthen its expertise in sensors and electronics, NRF established a dedicated sensor laboratory in Granada, Spain. Equipped with a clean room, the facility enables the testing, validation, and development of a wide range of products. With a primary focus on automotive sensors, the laboratory supports the ongoing expansion of NRF’s sensor and electronics range.

Innovation Range launch

in 2024, NRF launched the Innovation Range, a dedicated portfolio developed to support the growing e-Mobility aftermarket. The range includes more than 250 components for TESLA models and over 160 parts for BYD vehicles, making NRF one of the first suppliers to introduce BYD products to the aftermarket.

Turbochargers are announced as a new product

In 2025, NRF strengthened its position in the automotive aftermarket through the acquisition of turbocharger specialist Alanko and the introduction of its turbocharger range. This milestone supported NRF’s ambition to become a complete one-stop supplier, expanding its portfolio to over 18,000 products across multiple vehicle technologies.

New warehouse in Bucharest, Romania

As NRF continues to grow, so does its investment in infrastructure and customer support. In 2026, a new 20,100 m² warehouse and office facility was opened in Bucharest, Romania, further strengthening NRF’s global distribution network. In addition, facilities in France and Italy were expanded, and a new sales office was established in Istanbul, Turkey, to support continued regional growth and customer service.
