NRF fan clutches are designed to achieve maximum performance and durability. Due to the high quality of NRF fan clutches, they are low noise, maintenance-free and fuel saving.
NRF makes the difference in the market by enclosing a quality inspection report. This quality inspection report is produced during a performance test. During this test the fan clutch is checked on four functional phases and a general functionality check.
The NRF fan clutch range contains 386 references covering over 1.300 OE references.
The function of a fan clutch
A fan clutch (or viscous fan clutch) is a thermostatic coupling device that controls the engagement of the electric cooling fan. It is integrated in the fan blades and is located frontally in the vehicle. The word “viscous” is key. A special fluid is responsible for transferring torque between the two parts of the clutch. The oil flow is moderated by a valve controlled by a heat-sensitive bimetal (simpler solution) or by electronics (together with the vehicle’s electronic control unit, more advanced).
